It’s Almost Spring!

Easter is coming up quickly so it’s a good time to start thinking Spring! To start off the season I wanted to post a card I made for my niece last year for Easter. My inspiration for the design was from a card I saw in the March /April 2010 Issue of Paper Crafts Magazine. Here is a link to their sketch page: Hey There Sunshine Card. I love looking through issues of Paper Crafts for card inspiration!

Paper Crafts March/April 2010

My card is 6 x 6 size. I cut the bird and the word tweet on my Cricut using the Create A Critter cartridge. The scallop circle is from the Gypsy Wanderings cartridge under the stamps option. The yellow scalloped strip was created using the EK Success Craft Edge Punch in Scallop Diamond.

Welding Using the Gypsy

This tutorial will show you how to weld images using your Gypsy to create the number 4 card. First let’s start by placing the #4 onto your mat. I used the Sesame Street Font, Sunny Day Shadow #4. I then enlarged it to cover the right side of my mat.

copy buttonNow you can create a second #4 for the back of the card. Make sure your first #4 is selected and click the copy button (found on the advanced menu tab),

Move the new #4 over to the left side of your mat.

flip vertical buttonNow you need to flip this #4 along the vertical axis so it is the mirror image of your first #4 if the line down the center of your mat was the mirror. Touch the flip vertical button to flip the image.

Now line up reversed #4 overlapping the first #4 as shown below, and group the two images using the group button (shown in yellow below) so they are both selected at the same time.

Now select the advanced tab and then select the weld button (top) and then the eye button (bottom). The eye button shows you how the image will be cut by graying out any lines that will not be cut when the images are welded. As you can see, there will no longer be a cut between the two #4s. Instead, this will become the fold line for the card. Just remember that you can’t use any other button or edit your image while the eye button is on.

You are now ready to cut your card!
Please let me know if you have any questions about welding,

Number Birthday

Happy Birthday Four

I’ve recently seen a bunch of these number birthday cards on Pinterest and wanted to make one so I used the idea for a 4 year old’s birthday party today. I used my Gypsy to make this card so that the left side of the 4 is the fold. It’s very easy to do this by using a duplicate number 4 of the same size, flipping it along the vertical, and then welding it to the right facing number 4. {See my instructions for Welding Using the Gypsy for more detailed info on how to cut the card}

The number 4 is from the Sesame Street Font Cricut cartridge using the Sunny Day option. The card was made using the shadow and the patterned paper was cut using the regular number. I used rhinestones to glam up the patterned paper. The sentiment is two circles, you can cut from any cartridge that has a circle, and then the scallop is from the — cartridge. Stamp Happy Birthday and attach with dimensional adhesive squares.

A bright and colorful card for any four year old girl!
